Professor Sherif Essam, graduated from Faculty of medicine, Ain Shams University in 1995. He obtained his Masters degree in general surgery in 1999, FRCSI (Fellowship of the royal college of surgeons in Ireland) in 2002, MD degree in 2004. Worked as a senior vascular registrar at University Hospital Galway, Ireland 2004-2006. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Younes worked as a vascular surgeon and an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA. Kaji Sritharan is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Educationalist and Emeritus Associate Dean of the Royal Society of Medicine. She qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School London, in 2001, and undertook her SHO training in London. In 2007, she completed and was awarded an MD (Res) in Vascular Biology and a DIC from Imperial College. She subsequently undertook her higher surgical training on the Northwest Thames rotation, with endovascular fellowships in Brisbane, Australia and post-CCT fellowships in Vascular centres in Malmo, Sweden and Bad-Krozingen, Germany; for which she was awarded the prestigious Moynihan Travelling Fellowship from the ASGBI. 

Her clinical sub-specialist interest is in the diabetic foot and lower limb peripheral endovascular interventions. She also has a strong interest in teaching and education and in addition to authoring 7 career-development and exam-revision books, she has developed over 150 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, both in association with the RSM and in her role as a Member of the London Deanery Vascular & Endovascular Skills Simulation Committee and Vascular Training Program Board, London. In addition, she is immediate past Honorary Secretary for the Venous Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Dr. Martin Maresch is an enthusiastic Senior Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon in BDF Hospital, Bahrain. Dr. Xavier Berard is a French vascular surgeon and has been a consultant in the Department of Vascular Surgery at Bordeaux University Hospital since 2010. He has served as a full Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Bordeaux since 2016.

He obtained his medical degree from Bordeaux University in 1999, followed by a general surgery residency from 1999 to 2005 and a vascular surgery fellowship from 2005 to 2009 at Bordeaux University Hospital. He then completed a PhD in vascular biomaterials and worked as a research fellow at Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland in 2010.

Dr. Berard has been board-certified by the French College of Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons since 2008 and by the European Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (FEBVS) since 2010. Prof. Mert Dumantepe is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at Acibadem University School of Medicine. Prof. Dumantepe completed his graduation from Istanbul University School of Medicine, Turkey in 2001. Prof. Dumantepe was trained in Dr. Siyami Ersek’s Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Research and Training Hospital. Prof. Dumantepe conducted a fellowship in the field of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension and Pulmonary Endarterectomy program, and Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Asist Device program from University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, USA in 2015 until 2016. He advanced his vascular training by completing an Advanced Fellowship in Surgery (AFS) at Poitiers University and the Diplôme d’Études Complémentaires Spécialisées (DECS) in Vascular Surgery at Limoges University, and the Diplome Universitaire in aorta surgery, Lile university, France. He had extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and currently serves as the Associate Program Director of General Surgery. Prof. Dr. Ahmed A. Taha currently serves as the Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR). With over thirty-five years of dedicated service in the healthcare sector, he brings extensive expertise in medical education, healthcare administration, and hospital management. His profound knowledge encompasses strategic planning, medical education advancement, leadership, financial management, and total quality control.

Prof. Taha earned his Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University, in 1986. Subsequently, he obtained his Master's and Ph.D. in General Surgery in 1990 and 1994, respectively. He has pursued further academic enrichment through prestigious international fellowships, including those from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1997); the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2003); the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, USA (2007); and Cologne University, Germany (2014). Additionally, he holds a professional postgraduate diploma in Healthcare and Hospital Management from the American University in Cairo (2011-2012).

Prof. Taha has held several significant managerial positions throughout his career trajectory. Notable among these are his roles as the General Director of the New Kasr El-Aini Teaching Hospital (2017-2019), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cairo University Hospitals (2019-2021), and the Chief of Surgery (2021-2023). Furthermore, he is esteemed as the Founder and President of the Egyptian Association of Diabetic Foot and Limb Salvage.

His contributions to academic literature are substantial, with 38 publications spanning vascular surgery, diabetic foot complications, endovascular interventions, and scientific research. Dr. ElKerdawi is a vascular and endovascular surgeon who specializes in

advanced endovascular and open surgery for critical limb ischemia and

diabetic atherosclerotic disease. He also has extensive experience in complex endovascular surgery for aortic aneurysms and lower extremity occlusive disease, as well as hybrid surgical techniques for PVD, varicose veins, and dialysis access. Dr. ElKerdawi earned his undergraduate degree at Alexandria University and his post grade medical degree at Ain Shams University, Egypt. He completed his endovascular and vascular surgery training at university of Barcelona and Galway university Hospital of Ireland and fellowship training both aforementioned universities. Prof. Baguneid’s novel research into tissue engineering of blood vessels between Manchester Royal Infirmary and Royal Free Hospital, London, earned him a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of Manchester. Dr. Abdel Aal undertook his initial medical studies in Egypt before emigrating to France where he received his postgraduate training in Tours University Hospital. Dr. Abdel Aal has obtained several diplomas during his career, including Microsurgery, Open Complicated Techniques and Recent Endovascular Techniques. Dr. Abdel Aal has more than 20 years of experience in endovascular procedures and has practiced with the most famous French and European vascular surgeons in Paris. Dr. Abdel Aal has published more than 25 pieces of research published, and given more than 40 scientific international lectures. Prof. Baguneid provides support to regional surgical oncology teams and has taught many consultants to perform a wide range of complex vascular treatments. Kaji Sritharan is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Educationalist and Emeritus Associate Dean of the Royal Society of Medicine. She qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School London, in 2001, and undertook her SHO training in London. In 2007, she completed and was awarded an MD (Res) in Vascular Biology and a DIC from Imperial College. She subsequently undertook her higher surgical training on the Northwest Thames rotation, with endovascular fellowships in Brisbane, Australia and post-CCT fellowships in Vascular centres in Malmo, Sweden and Bad-Krozingen, Germany; for which she was awarded the prestigious Moynihan Travelling Fellowship from the ASGBI. 

Her clinical sub-specialist interest is in the diabetic foot and lower limb peripheral endovascular interventions. She also has a strong interest in teaching and education and in addition to authoring 7 career-development and exam-revision books, she has developed over 150 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, both in association with the RSM and in her role as a Member of the London Deanery Vascular & Endovascular Skills Simulation Committee and Vascular Training Program Board, London. Dr. Efthymios (Makis) Avgerinos is a Vascular Surgeon, Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in USA. He was born in Athens, Greece in 1975. In 2001 he earned his medical degree from the University of Thessaly Medical School (Greece), and in 2006 his Ph.D. from the University of Athens. In 2011 he completed his residency in Vascular Surgery at the Department of Vascular Surgery of the University of Athens, Greece. During his residency years, he had short clinical fellowships in King's Hospital, London, UK and in Stadtische Kliniken, Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Avgerinos got certified by the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS) in 2012. Since 2011 and up to 2021 he has been working in USA. In September 2020 he returned to Greece and he is currently co-Director of the Clinic of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Athens Medical Center and visiting Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Athens. Dr. Avgerinos has published more than 200 peer reviewed papers and chapters in vascular surgery and his work has been widely cited and recognized with international awards. He has served in the Executive Councils of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS), European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS) and International Society for Vascular Surgery (ISVS).

Prof. Mert Dumantepe is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at Acibadem University School of Medicine. Prof. Dumantepe completed his graduation from Istanbul University School of Medicine, Turkey in 2001. Prof. Dumantepe was trained in Dr. Siyami Ersek’s Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Research and Training Hospital. Prof. Dumantepe conducted a fellowship in the field of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension and Pulmonary Endarterectomy program, and Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Asist Device program from University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, USA in 2015 until 2016. Prof. Dumantepe is the general secretary of the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery - Pulmonary Vascular Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension working group. Throughout his professional career , Prof. Dumantepe has focused on extensive work with venous thromboembolic disease, particularly on catheter directed thrombolysis in intermediate and high-risk pulmonary embolism. Prof . Dumantepe's research interest is optimizing the therapeutic management of patients with massive pulmonary embolism and endovascular treatment of acute and chronic deep vein thrombosis. Prof. Dumantepe is the reviewer of the Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Chest, Heart-Lung and Circulation, BMJ, Phlebology, and the Lancet. Prof. Dumantepe is the author of over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and the section editor and writer of the deep vein thrombosis chapter of the Vascular Surgery textbooks. Prof. Dumantepe has been involved as Principal Investigator in multiple international, multicenter randomized trials in pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, including PE-KNOCOUT Study, VETEX, SPECTRUM.

Dr. Omamah Almousa is a Saudi vascular surgeon with a Canadian board certification in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Dr. Almousa is currently working at King Saud University and affiliated hospitals in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Almousa did her Vascular residency training at McMaster University in Hamilton and a fellowship in advanced endovascular surgery at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. Dr. Almousa did her master's degree in science of surgery and two fellowships in simulation, leadership and innovation at University of British Columbia in Canada. Dr. Almousa has a special interest with several projects and publications in artificial intelligence, simulation, surgical education and digital health. Dr. Almousa’s clinical work is focused on carotid disease, aortic pathologies and peripheral vascular disease.
